Santa Barbara

We left Santa Rosa Island and motor sailed the 30nm to Santa Barbara in a light breeze and a rolling sea. Our spirits were down after a disappointing stopover at the island. Half way across we had some visitors. The dolphins had come to play in our bow wave. What a beautiful sight as they danced in front of our boat, all negative thoughts were instantly forgotten.

The sail across the Santa Barbara Channel brought us to warmer Southern California weather. Santa Barbara is a beautiful city, with palm trees and gardens everywhere. The anchorage is not well protected, but not too rolly for us, however we were told the night before was terrible.

The view from the anchorage.

We walked around the city enjoying the being on land again, and working to replace our dwindling food stores. Much of the architecture has a Spanish flavor with stucco being the siding of choice.

  1. Such amazing pictures, it really would be nice to be in the warm sun, instead of our lovely rain weather. Enjoy following your journey
